Surplus Property Distribution
This program makes available to local governments, equipment no longer used or required
by United States federal installations and State of Illinois governmental agencies.
Vehicles, office equipment, computers, heavy industrial equipment and office furniture
encompass only a fraction of the items available.
Local governments and qualifying not-for-profit organizations may view the available equipment
at central warehouses in Springfield and Chicago. An average of 1,500 State of Illinois
surplus vehicles from compact cars to State Police cruisers and large trucks are on site
at the Springfield State Surplus warehouse throughout the year for public inspection.
A nominal service charge is assessed depending on the age and condition of each item of
property to cover overhead costs. All items are periodically available to the general
public at auctions conducted in Springfield.
