The State of Illinois Employees' Deferred Compensation Plan is a supplemental retirement plan open to all full-time state employees. The deferrals, together with any earnings, accumulate tax-deferred until the employee terminates service, dies, or incurs unforeseeable financial hardship. The funds are never taxed by the State of Illinois.
Group Insurance administers the group health, dental, and life insurance benefit programs for state employees and retirees. It also administers the vision plan, the flexible spending programs (Medical Care Assistance & Dependent Care Assistance Plans) and COBRA (Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act).
The Risk Management Division is responsible for the administration of workers' compensation claims for work-related accidents of state employees. Additionally, it administers auto liability and insurance procurements for all property, casualty, and liability expenses.
The State Retirement Systems provide an orderly means whereby aged or disabled employees may be retired from active service, without prejudice or hardship, and enable the employees to accumulate reserves for themselves and their dependents for old age, disability, death and termination of employment, thus effecting economy and efficiency in the administration of the State Government.
The Teachers' Retirement Insurance Program (TRIP), administers the health insurance benefit program for Teachers' Retirement System (TRS) annuitants (their dependents and/or survivors). TRIP offers a variety of health insurance plans, including a major medical plan, and several HMOs.
